Week 2

Storyboarding & Ideas - Concepts

As a result, I began the week by completing the project's plot and how the narrative would take place. While certain concepts were developed I managed to draw it down to two ideas. With Narratives both done.

                                             Storyboard 1:

First idea: The story begins with a mysterious house, engulfed in darkness as the power has been shut off. As the camera zooms in through a window, the only source of light is a retro game console, still running a space game. A person is seen picking up the controller and starting to play. As the game progresses in 2D, the audience is transported inside the game and becomes the point of view of the space ship. The immersive experience continues until the audience successfully completes the game. Suddenly, the power turns back on, and the person playing the game is filled with joy.

In summary, the story uses clever camera techniques and immersive gameplay to engage the audience and leave them with a satisfying resolution.

In addition for the house I will use 3D kit bash house asset for unreal engine where I will use a camera for a drone/pan for the transition through the window. I think I will use green screen for the retro game and create a 2D game with after effects and the 3D version will be made on blender.

Storyboard 2:

Second idea: There is a person that is walking into an arcade that is known for its classic and retro games. As you make your way through the dimly lit hallway, you notice a faint glow emanating from an old, broken-down game machine at the end of the row. Curiosity piqued, you approach the machine and begin fiddling with the controls. Suddenly, you feel a strange sensation and before you know it, you're transported into the game itself!

As you look around, you realize that you are now the main character in this retro game world, and in order to escape, you must complete a series of quests and challenges. The stakes are high, and the journey is perilous, but you are determined to succeed. Using your wits and skills, you navigate through various levels, battle fierce enemies, and solve tricky puzzles.

Finally, after hours of gameplay, you reach the final level and defeat the final boss. As the game ends, you are transported back to the real world through a portal. You look around, still trying to catch your breath, and realize that the arcade is just as you left it - but you are forever changed by the thrilling adventure you just experienced.

For the arcade I’m looking to use the kit bash 3D asset again for the old retro games and will need to animate a game with after effects or blender. For the spiral effect eg. falling through a portal inside and out of the game I am really unsure on how I am able to do that. For the person I will have to use myself or find an actor that would be like to be used as a meta human and be able to be put in a motion capture suit
