Week 4
Animatic
Shot 1:consists of a wide-angle shot that establishes the setting of the film - an arcade that I would like to use an unreal engine for (kitbash package) This shot can be seen as very colorful and blinking lights, giving the audience a sense of excitement and energy of the arcade.
Shot 2:
Walking up to the arcade (the actor enters the side entrance) and hears arcade noises. This shot is a medium shot that shows the protagonist approaching the arcade. As they get closer, they can hear the sounds of the arcade games and the chatter of the people inside. This shot could also establish the protagonist's curiosity and desire to explore the arcade.
Shot 3:
Ambient Music Enters Arcade. This shot is a back shot and shows the transition of entering the arcade. This shows the protagonist as they are enveloped by the sounds of the games and the added use of ambient inspiring music. This shot can be used to show their fascination with the arcade and their excitement at being immersed in the arcade world.
Shot 4:
Sees out-of-order tag. Now depending on the filming environment I may need to cg the barrier in. This shot can be seen as a low-angle/medium shot that shows the protagonist walking up to the sign and going underneath to the out-of-boundaries section. This shot could show the protagonist's disappointment at not being able to play the game and their frustration. This could then lead to the protagonist's curiosity to continue to seek out why the game is broken.
Shot 5:
The arcade machine is broken and starts flickering with light and starts to talk with text. This can be done at a medium shot. This shot could create a sense of wonder and surprise in the audience as they see the arcade machine come to life
Shot 6:
This shot could be a close-up of the protagonist's face as they look around the arcade, their facial expression is still frustrated at not being able to play any games. This could also entail the protagonist's determination to figure out how the game works even though it is still broken.
Shot 7:
This shot can be done for me from different angles. But I thought whilst filming this scene it can be shot from a side angle gaining both angles of information (The arcade machine could be glowing/pulsing as the protagonist disappears into the game. I feel this shot could create a sense of anticipation and excitement as the audience wonders what will happen next.
Shot 8
This shot will be a medium shot but we get to see the protagonist wake up inside. The protagonist will have nervous. anxious experience wondering where he is and wondering if he is in reality or not.
Shot 9:
In this shot, the camera is placed at a high angle and we see the protagonist punching a man as the man gets hit the money will fallout with game coin-dropping effects will take place.
Shot 10:
This shot consists of the protagonist getting inside an abandoned car as hot wires the car from a medium shot.
Shot 11:
We see the protagonist pull out a firearm in an all-shootout with in-game enemies firing at him. This will be a wide shot that will encompass cars and dead bodies.
Overall in my opinion my animatic has a great mix of establishing shots. I think they give a good sense of the tone and style of my arcade short film experience.
nice animatic! really reminds me of GTA there!
