Mood Boards & Ideas I made an effort in the first week to develop a strong concept that would corollate to my ideas. My initial goal is to create a visual appealing 80 aesthetic short film. Inspired by comics, games and neon lighting. . I want to make the auidence immersed in the short film exprience. I want animate a character that will serve as the story's adversary or "monster" using motion capture. To further the retro aeesthetic I had thought of using a metahuman character that is designed as a pixelated game character. Even though I want to have an immersive and aesthetically looking visuals for a short film, I started developing a basic aesthetic in the hopes that it will spark creative inspiration. This is my current inspiration and ideas for my capstone. I want it to be 80s aesthetic spherically inspired from comics and arcades. As for visual style through the short film I would like the neon light aesthetic.
Storyboarding & Ideas - Concepts As a result, I began the week by completing the project's plot and how the narrative would take place. While certain concepts were developed I managed to draw it down to two ideas. With Narratives both done. Storyboard 1: First idea: The story begins with a mysterious house, engulfed in darkness as the power has been shut off. As the camera zooms in through a window, the only source of light is a retro game console, still running a space game. A person is seen picking up the controller and starting to play. As the game progresses in 2D, the audience is transported inside the game and becomes the point of view of the space ship. The immersive experience continues until the audience successfully completes the game. Suddenly, the power turns back on, and the person playing the game ...
Editing Rough Cut & Reshoots During the rough editing phase, my main objective was to assemble the shots in a sequence. This helped me get an initial sense of how the footage flows together and enables you to make initial decision about the pacing. Using the right music is crucial in setting the tone and evoking emotions in a project. The uplifting and inspiring qualities of "Snowfall" are likely to resonate with the audience, adding an extra layer of engagement to my VFX work. I was hopping this enhances my visuals. I have considered the overall flow and dynamics of the project, ensuring that the music aligns with the desired pacing and energy. I also stabilised all my shots so al the unnecessary shaking has been eliminated.
